For 25 years, White Party at Vizcaya has been the crown jewel of the Circuit. Few places in the world evoke the same level of glamour as the palatial Villa Vizcaya on Biscayne Bay, and every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, thousands of people in white wander the impeccably landscaped grounds — drinking, eating and dancing in a haze of romantic fantasy. All of the official dance parties and cultural events of White Party Week raise much-needed funds for Care Resource, the South Florida community-based AIDS service organization. This year’s theme is Cirque du Monde, a reference to Cirque du Soleil’s new home in South Florida — and there’s no question that White Party will be even sexier and more sultry than ever before. A truly unforgettable experience, White Party at Villa Vizcaya is a slice of heaven here on Earth.

Recently, Amsterdam has been neck-and-neck with London, Barcelona and Berlin as the nightlife capital of Europe, thanks in no small part to this fabulously successful party. With more than 10 annual events marked by spectacular lighting and cutting-edge performances, Rapido’s 12-hour-plus dance marathons earned Rapido the 2009 award for Edge Publications’ “Best Recurring International Party.” Housed in a former church, and once known as Paradiso, Rapido has balconies, alcoves, and hidden spaces that make this a pleasure palace for defrocked priests and other incubi who emerge during Halloween in Amsterdam. This year, Rapido brings dynamic duo DJ Hector Fonseca and DJ Theresa to raise the spirits in an ungodly pagan ritual certain to shake the foundations of every religious zealot.

No one does Halloween better than Alegria. With Ric Sena’s jaw-dropping décor, purpose-built in Brazil and installed in New York, Alegria Halloween has, in years past, evoked chilling thrillers and slasher flicks, as well as a Little Shop of Horrors’ garden of surreal extraterrestrial eyes. One year, a colony of Alegria bats hovered and swooped and flashed red — and every year, the very hot men of Alegria have turned it out in wildly imaginative flights of fancy. The result of all this voodoo has made Alegria Halloween one of the most popular on the Alegria annual calendar. Be prepared to be blown away by the music and the theme — and a coven of vampiric boys waiting to suck you into their netherworld.

With the tagline “Everyone wants to be famous: Your turn is coming,” Halloween 27 in New Orleans makes it clear that this is not an idle promise. Come prepared to be stalked by paparazzi — then deal with the consequences. This is the official New Orleans Halloween weekend, benefiting Project Lazarus, the local AIDS organization. Former locals Alyson Calagna and Joe Gauthreaux return to their previous haunts to spook you with magic music. It’s a certainty that this four-day weekend will rouse every dead celebrity while rattling the skeletons in every famous closet. With a gala and silent auction at the New Orleans Museum of Art, a Saturday night costume parade, and Steamboat Natchez, the Sunday brunch and riverboat cruise, Halloween 27 New Orleans will make you famous — or at least infamous.

Way back in 1991, a group of friends got together to throw a party to help combat the toll of AIDS; 20 years on, Black & Blue (founded by Bad Boys Club Montreal/BBCM Fondation) has grown into arguably the most definitive Circuit event of the calendar year. The recipient of numerous awards and prizes for its exemplary production values, technical innovation, and artistic direction, Black & Blue has become the benchmark against which other cultural festivals and dance events around the planet are measured. Each year, nearly 70,000 party people convene in Montreal for the Black & Blue Festival with its nearly weeklong spate of all-night dance parties. This year’s 20th anniversary edition of North America’s mega dance event returns to the Palais des congres — the city’s convention hall — where House and trance rooms will fulfill the musical fantasies of well over 10,000 celebrants. With world-renowned DJ/producer Mark Anthony returning for his 15th Main Event, this is one can’t-miss birthday party. Come celebrate two decades of musical brilliance on 10/10/10. This year, Sleaze Ball takes place near the end of Australia’s winter (that’s right — upside down, seasons and all) and the Oz boys and girls are ready to shake off the cold and welcome in spring. This is the costume ball to end all costume balls, where nearly everyone adheres to the annual theme, resulting in one of the more surreal and sexy gatherings of humanity.
Every year, on the last Sunday in September, nearly half a million leather and fetish devotees blanket 13 city blocks of San Francisco in the largest leather/fetish event in the world. One of the most well-loved events in a city that loves the surreal, Folsom Street Fair (now celebrating 27 years of bringing the most outrageous behavior to the streets of San Francisco) offers everything racy and raunchy on two stages with nearly 20 live acts, alongside huge dance areas, as well as Venus’ Playground, for women. Saturday night’s Magnitude Party attracts more than 2,500 leather daddies, masters, and slaves to partake in an orgiastic ritual that continues right through to the Fair on Sunday — and then, right after the Fair, there’s Real Bad, the all-volunteer, non-profit, and always sold-out party that donates 100% of all proceeds to grassroots organizations (over $1 million thus far). This year’s Real Bad XXII stars Atlanta-based DJ Sean Mac — chosen from a pool of nearly 20 applicants. Unleash your darkest fantasies and revel in the sexual freedom that Folsom Street Fair celebrates.

As the new tagline succinctly puts it, “Summer Perfected” — and few people would argue that Fire Island and summer go together as perfectly as sand and the ocean. This year, the idyllic gay playground is more chic and more fun than ever before, thanks to the recently refurbished Pavilion, the legendary Pines nightclub, as well as a freshened-up Blue Whale, home to the legendary outdoor Low Tea. There’s also the Fire Island Pines Underwear Party and the new Friday nights BierGarten around the Pool Deck — and a swarm of hot-hot-hot boys wandering the beach and loitering along the walks in little more than dental-floss swimwear.
One of the largest celebrations in New Orleans (which is saying something in a town that lives to party), Southern Decadence brings more than 100,000 LGBT people to town for what has become known as the Gay Mardi Gras. Now in its 39th year, the six-day party starts on Wednesday and doesn’t ever really stop — at least not until the following Tuesday. On Sunday afternoon, park yourself on the corner of Bourbon and St. Ann and be prepared for one of the more outrageous parades you’ll ever witness. Coincidentally (or not), that intersection is also home to the city’s largest nightclub, the Bourbon Pub, and dance club Parade. In recognition of Southern Decadence’s economic import, the city even issues an Official Proclamation welcoming the LGBT community. For 2010, the Diva of Decadence, Chi Chi LaRue, returns, ably assisted by DJs Brett Henrichsen, Lydia Prim, and a flock of others. Ever since 1995, MLTC Inc. has been the proud producer of Canada’s largest leather events, and Leather Ball brings out some of the more glorious members of the leather life, with a seriously fierce after-party later that night. Whether you’re a bad boy or a daddy, don your chaps and leather apparel. Just don’t forget to say “Sir.”

Every summer during the second weekend in August, the world-famous gay beach resort town becomes even more colorful, thanks to this premier beach event for the LGBT men of color (and the men who love them). Established in 2003, Fire Island Black Out has grown into a multicultural event, incorporating dance parties, pool parties, fashion shows, barbeques, sports, and of course, a tasty assortment of dark, milk, and white chocolate (in their own words, and who’s going to argue?). Best of all, all this celebrating raises funds for non-profits serving homeless gay youth, people with AIDS, and the Fire Island National Seashore. Take the ferry to Cherry Grove, and get some good loving while doing good. This is one blackout you won’t want to end.

While most Pride celebrations utilize trucks for their parades, Amsterdam’s Canal Parade uses boats: more than 75 spectacularly decorated boats floating along the Amstel River. Half a million spectators cheer as the boats, loaded with gorgeous boys (and girls), sail through the canals, not to mention all the parties. Amsterdam is one of the world’s most celebratory cities. Apart from the ongoing street parties and the all-night bacchanals at Amsterdam’s legendary club Rapido, there’s also the Pride Saturday party this year produced by powerhouse SuperMartXe. It’s no wonder that Gay Pride Amsterdam is on the calendars of every fun-loving Circuit boy.

Ever since 1999, when an Arabian tent city arose along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, the Pines Party (2009 winner of “Best Beach Party” by EDGE Publications) has picked up where the legendary GMHC Morning Party left off — and that means an all-night, eight-hour oceanside extravaganza. Proceeds are divided equally between the Fire Island Pines Property Owners’ Association (FIPPOA) and the Stonewall Community Foundation — and each year’s theme generates a massive outpouring of imagination and creativity to create a summer oasis unlike any ever seen before. Like Brigadoon, the enchanted city that appears for one night — that’s the Pines Party — and every bit as magical.
Pride in Montreal got so big that Divers/Cite became a separate LGBT cultural festival, which is followed two weeks later (August 12-15, 2010) by Celebrations de la Fierte, Montreal’s Pride celebration. For this year, Divers/Cite’s theme is All Together Different, which is certainly one definition of the wildly outrageous shenanigans that occur over the course of six-night long festival. Think Winter Music Conference mixed with a soupcon of Burning Man, and a healthy spoonful of Wigstock, as well as a whole lot of Pride, and you have a good idea why Divers/Cite attracts people from all over the world for events such as Mascara (a/k/a “la nuit des Drags”), a visual spectacle of performance, glitter, sequins and feathers. There’s also la Grande Danse, a massive eleven-hour, multi-media, block party celebrating all musical forms related to house. With well-known deejays and performers such as Mark Anthony, Peter Rauhofer, Yinon Yahel, Samantha Fox, Martha Wash, and Ana Paula, Divers/Cite proudly celebrates the myriad colors of urban diversity.
Pride in the U.S. isn’t over until San Diego says so, which means not until more than 200,000 spectators and celebutantes whoop it up at the two-day San Diego Pride Parade and Festival. This year’s theme, “One World. One Heart. One Pride”, promises even more flamboyance and sheer fabulousness, with a mile-and-a-half-long parade — the fifth-largest in the U.S.— winding through the streets of Hillcrest.
Voted “Best National Party” in 2009 by EDGE Publications, Alegria Pride is the party that defines New York Pride, and one of the primary reasons that more than half a million people come to New York on the last Sunday in June. Every year, Alegria producer Ric Sena pulls out all the stops for a massive eighteen-hour Pride celebration that keeps the boys on the dance floor well into Monday afternoon. One year it was the landing of the Mothership; another year it was the Greatest Pride on Earth; and another it was Pirates of the Alegria. Last year’s award-winning party was Alegria Wonderland — a party that people still talk about. Ask anyone lucky enough to have been there: these are parties not to be missed.
It’s the 40th anniversary of Pride in Boston — what better excuse to take in the glories of Boston in early June? Pride is the one week when Boston’s hotter than Rio! Over one million people watched the Pride Parade in 2009; over 100,000 attended the Festival, including frat boys and hot students, ready to blow off steam after final exams. Chris Harris, Boston’s top promoter, teams up with local Pride organizers to throw a series of nonstop parties that last all week long. Toss your mortarboard into the air; it’s the commencement — of summer!

It’s not what you think. Koninginnedag (aka Queen’s Day) is Holland’s most popular national holiday. Amsterdam is quite famously a party town even on the quietest of off-weekends, so imagine what it’s like when the entire country dons orange (as in House of Orange) and observes the birthday of the Netherlands’ beloved Queen Mum who ruled from 1948 to 1980. Not surprisingly, a holiday fit for a Queen has been enthusiastically embraced by the gay community in much the same way the welcoming country has embraced us. It’s just one big ol’ hugfest. Seriously though, Amsterdam is known for tolerance and acceptance and the gay community is so socially integrated here that it’s difficult to distinguish a gay/lesbian “style” or “scene” (but we keep tryin’). An impressive array of gay parties and events accompanies the general mayhem in the streets. After Queensday, the party still goes on through Sunday.

Special performance by FLAVA direct from Hollywood, CA.

This is it. The Big Kahuna. The Mother Ship. The Black Party. You’ve heard the rumors. The legends. The one about the adult castration onstage. The “accident” on the dance floor. The FTM sex show. The hot-wax fisting scene. This isn’t one of the most intense experiences you’ll ever have on a dance floor. It’s the most intense experience you’ll ever have in your entire life. Held at the venerable Roseland Ballroom—the biggest dance floor in all of Gotham—you’ll be dazzled, astounded and turned on by the sight of several thousand of the hottest men you never thought existed celebrating the many moods of leather in all its guises, from leather pants to jocks to … socks and boots.

Once you go upstairs and adjust your eyes to the transfixing light show emanating from the domed dance floor, you’ll feast on the thousands of fellow revelers, some doing things you won’t be telling the folks back home, and some doing things you won’t be telling anyone back home. But most people are dancing—this is, above all and before everything, a dance party that traces itself back to 1979 and the old Saint, the most fabulous and famous gay dance club of all time. Held every year around the Vernal Equinox, this hearkens even further back to Druid rituals whereby men donned animal skins and danced all night to ensure a good planting season. Even if you’re not doing any farming, you may end up planting plenty of seed at a party that stretches from early evening well into the next afternoon.

Tom Whitman continues one of the West Coast’s most unique events. Elevation brings together people from across the country and from around the world. More than 2,000 people show up for a week of events that celebrate diversity, fun, and the best spring skiing and snowboarding in North America. Seven major parties and altitude without the attitude. Now the third-largest gay ski week in the country, it features giant après-ski events and spectacular nighttime parties. World-class DJs spin so be sure not to break a leg on the slopes.

One highlight is the “Party @ 10,000 Feet,” where you ride a dark gondola up the mountain to the highest party above sea level on the continent. You’ll have to really work to catch up with this peak, overlooking the majestic Sierra Nevadas under a stunning starscape. New to the mountain is the new Westin Monache, which adds to the luxury accommodations. You haven’t lived until you’ve been in a hot tub surrounded by snow—and a few well-chosen new friends.

For the past three years, Homesexual has been the official Mardi Gras Closing Event—or in their words, ”saving the best for last,” which is no exaggeration given that Homesexual’s superbly-produced, signature 12-hour event has showcased deejays and performers such as Offer Nissim, Peter Rauhofer, Maya, Yinon Yahel—and a cast of thousands in a sublime setting overlooking Sydney’s shimmering harbor. This year’s event brings both Tony Moran and Paulo for Homesexual’s first double-header set in the main arena transformed into the Enchanted Forest of Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Wander in awe to the propulsive sets of Tony and Paulo—and fifteen of Australia’s best deejays, with Starfucker DJs on the rooftop. Small wonder that Oz boys and girls know that there’s no place like Homesexual.

Coming at the end of the long winter’s chill, an early March party in this tropical paradise means goodbye to snow, slush and subzero temperatures and hello to South Beach bikinis, muscles and models. This outdoor beachfront extravaganza brings out the best DJs, entertainers and attendees from all points on the compass.

Launched in 1994 as a one-time charity dance overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, an entire Winter Party Festival has evolved to become a six-day arts festival, club dance, and swanky cocktail marathon, all benefiting gay groups locally and The Task Force, the national advocacy organization. Over 10,000 guests from all over the United States and abroad attend at least one of the 20 events, including music, fashion, art, comedy and more—all taking on the Miami mainland or on that fabled strip of land, Miami Beach.

The Festival climaxes with the Winter Party Beach Party, an all-day event right on the sands of South Beach that draws more than 5,500 revelers. No matter where your interests lie, the Festival offers something for you. Winter Party Festival—it’s much more than a day at the beach.

The great party city of New Orleans continues to emerge triumphant like a phoenix from the flames. Fat Tuesday rages on! This notoriously raunchy and wild celebration has been a siren song for the gay community since the 1950s, when the Krewe of Yuga (or KY, naturally) formed to both satirize the straight Krewe that shut them out and open the city up to legions of gay visitors The city and its signature celebration haven’t been the same since. The impulse of the Circuit community to give back to charitable organizations is even more important for this city, which is still rebuilding, so let your tourist dollars help the city itself regain its former glory.

THOUSANDS TO CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN AT ANNUAL STREET PARTY IN DALLAS

DALLAS - Oak Lawn, the epicenter of Dallas’ GLBT community, will come to life on October 25 as thousands of Halloween fanatics venture out to the 3900 block of Cedar Spring Road to participate in the annual Halloween Street Party.

What began as an unplanned outing by hundreds of costumed party-goers along the Cedar Springs strip, the outing evolved into the annual event known today where patrons, spectators and participants dress up and mingle along the strip, socializing and showing off their elaborately designed costumes. “The Oak Lawn Halloween Street Party is one of the many hallmark outdoor events in Dallas each year,” said Phillip Jones, president and CEO of the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau. “It’s a fun event that many locals and travelers look forward to each year.”

During the Oak Lawn Halloween Street Party, several booths line the sidewalk where vendors sell food and drinks to accompany the festivities. In addition, many of the GLBT bars that line the Cedar Springs strip feature costume contests and drink specials.

The center catwalk, which extends down half a block, will be the limelight of the event where an official costume show will take place. Patrons will have the opportunity to strut their stuff and display their costumes as they walk down the strip.

The Street Party begins around sundown between Oak Lawn Avenue and Throckmorton Street, and wraps up around 2 a.m. Traffic will be cordoned off through the evening, so that revelers can safely mingle and enjoy the festivities.

For more information on this and the many other GLBT-friendly events in Dallas, please visit www.glbtdallas.com.

A self-described “world of hustlers, hookers, pimps, streetwalkers, flesh-peddlers, porn stars and other scandalous sorts,” the annual sex-drenched HustlaBall has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a one night party held in New York City back in 1998. Eighteen parties later, in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Berlin, and now London, HustlaBall is not only one of the raunchiest events on the dance circuit, it is also one of its hottest tickets. What was originally intended as a “sex cabaret” for erotic artists and exhibitionists has morphed over the years to become a mega-party, where adult content is presented in a large public space, for the amusement, shock and awe of international audiences. HustlaBall brings together (in addition to the usual circuit party suspects) top name musical talent and DJs, an outrageous cast of fetish acts and performers and a growing international parade of party people anxious to get in on the X-rated fun for which HustlaBall has become notorious.

Get yourself on down to the Lone Star state for their 25th Anniversary Edition of the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade and Festival. Dallas has become quite a fabulous tourist destination, with world-class luxury shopping and dining, a thriving gayborhood, as well as its very own place on the Circuit with the popular Purple Party.

This year’s Honorary Grand Marshall for the parade is Marine Corps Reservist, Jeff Key. Jeff kept a journal while in Iraq, which has been developed into an award-winning, critically-acclaimed one-man play, “The Eyes of Babylon” in which he also stars. He also established the Mehadi Foundation (which he named for a young Iraqi boy he met there) designed to help the veterans of the Iraq war. Even the gays are patriotic in Texas!

So saddle up, little doggies, and get on down to Texas to celebrate!

June means Gay Pride month in Atlanta, too! The city engages in special events throughout the month, celebrating Atlanta’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. The annual Atlanta Pride Festival is one of the largest in the country, with an estimated 300,000 peeps from all across the Southeast and beyond attending annually. The parade is one of the biggest draws of the Festival, with great floats and special guest appearances. As the festivities merge with the July 4th holiday this year, expect extra fireworks and tons of local favorite Coke (as in cola, you bad boy).

With ten days of world-class parties, cultural events, and street festivals, Toronto Pride is the perfect opportunity to discover one of the world’s most livable cities. Toronto’s legendary warmth toward the LGBT community is on full display during their Pride celebration — this year celebrating thirty years with the theme “You Belong.” Canada’s largest Pride parade happens on Sunday, the Fourth of July, which gives new meaning to the word “independence.” Think LGBT independence — and celebrate Pride at the numerous Prism Festival parties. Who knows — you might be so proud, you’ll get married!

Folsom Street East on Sunday is NYC’s premier leather-SM-fetish block party event. It’s like the Black Party—only in the daylight. See how well these hunky studs hold up in the bright summer sun as they parade their ass-less chaps and chiseled physiques through the streets of West Chelsea in an open-air erotic street festival rivaled only by its sister event in San Francisco. The 25th Annual Leather Pride Night Auction will take place on Saturday, continuing at the Eagle and other local establishments. The gawker factor alone may be off the charts. Although this event caters to serious leather-SM-fetishists and their admirers, you can show up in shorts or jeans and join in the nasty fun.

With its many nooks and crannies, the Furnace is a great space for dancing and engaging in chance encounters. As usual, there will be an open bar at the main event, complete with friendly bartenders and sexy visuals.

The ever spectacular DJ Cary Stringfellow highlights this Houston event benefitting Bunnies on the Bayou Inc.

The History:
On a sunny Easter Sunday in 1979, a small party among friends gathered at an apartment complex on Clay Street. The word spread of the event, and the following year they set up a sound system outdoors and sent out invitations. By the mid-1980’s, AIDS was taking a terrible toll and the party hosts decided to help their friends by charging an “admission” - a bag of food. By the early 1990’s the party attendance had grown so large that the hosts decided to move to the new outdoor plaza at the Wortham Center downtown on Buffalo Bayou; Bunnies on the Bayou was born. Rather than food, the Bunnies began to raise money for local charities. Since that time, the event has grown to be Houston’s largest annual outdoor cocktail party. Thousands of Houstonians have celebrated Easter with their friends, made new friends, and donated almost $550,000 to area charities.
